1. I literally did not know the Oscars were last night until half an hour ago. I fail at being a US citizen.
2. I have been craving dough like mad. White dough. White flour. Steamed dumplings, steamed buns. White dinner rolls. Plain bagels. CINNAMON ROLLS. Plain croissants. That thing at the neighborhood bakery they call a flat tire. IT'S INSANE AND I WANT IT TO STOP. More to the point, I'm having such a hard time resisting that I am not, in fact, resisting at all. No, that's not true. I resist until I can't stand it anymore and then I eat three rolls at once. Nothing like bingeing on something you know will make you throw up eventually, and enjoying every second of it. WTF, self?
All is good otherwise. Though I confess, I'm half hoping that if I'm going to throw up, it will be tonight, so I have an excuse not to get up in the morning. All the allergens make me sluggish and groggy, you see. And you should see my puffy eyes in the morning. OY. BEGONE WITH YOU, DEMON WHEAT. YOU SUCK.
Off to take Benadryl now. |

Does anyone know of a program that changes aspect ratio that ACTUALLY WORKS? I can't tell you how many duds I've come across. Free would be excellent, of course, but if there was a particularly good one, I'd be willing to pay a certain amount. The original source file would be .wmv or .avi.
I've been vidding! And yes, you can totally guess which fandom ;D

| No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency |

I Netflixed the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency since I saw someone on my flist talk about it a while back. (Don't remember who though. aj?)
I really enjoyed it. If they made more, I would watch it. I thought it was charming, and while I'm not sure how authentic the perspective is (I know it was filmed in Botswana, but it was a BBC/HBO production with American and British actors), it was refreshing to see things approached from a different mindset. The sense of justice was vastly different to what I'm used to. Most the time it wasn't a vengeance kind of justice - it was a justice that could see beyond that to the bigger picture. I've not really seen that in shows and especially not in Hollywood shows.
If you like detective mysteries and are looking for something different, you might try it. |

There's a line in DW's EoT where I think that most people picture the Doctor and the Master as kids, skipping through fields of daisies while holding hands. I'm wondering if it was more like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBB9An0ZT3I
(At first I thought the Master and the Doctor would be Mike and Tim, but now I'm thinking one of them might be Dwayne. XD) |

So, Twilight.
Yes, Twilight.
I have not read the books. I have only seen the movie. And I'm kind of in love with it for various different reasons - mostly its appealling badness.
Thus, a recap! Or at least the first part of one.
If you take Twilight seriously, you don't want to read this ;)
( Spoilers, many pictures )

Next time: will they ever break the world record for staring? Will Edward ever stop sending mixed signals? Is this a vampire movie that will never actually be scary?

- Haven't been to work since Tuesday. Bleh. Too dizzy. It hasn't been this bad in a while and this SUCKS. Hate this. Hate this a lot. It's hard to feel positive about it in general right now.
- DT and BP might be in something new together. I don't generally follow actors from project to project (unless that project appeals to me on its own), but I think I'd have to see this. :D (Nothing's final yet, and DT seems to be falling in and out of projects left and right at the moment, so no counting chickens and so on.) But it'd be super interesting to see them as different characters.

You know, assuming you are female or prefer to dress like one, when you're getting dressed one morning, and it suddenly hits you that you just cannot bear to look at a single one of your bras ever again?
I hit the bra wall this week. Bought six new ones. Pretty colors, yay! And AHHHHHHH, so comfortable. I like to buy push-ups for summer, because my boobs are far apart and I like cleavageness. (Cleavage-loving feminists unite!) So I had an excellent boob day today.
Now to work out how not to feel guilty throwing out the old ones. Why do I have so much trouble throwing out old bras? I can toss undies and socks into the bin like a crazy woman, but I might want to wear that old, faded pink bra with the missing hook and the exposed underwire again in fifteen years! Which, of course, I will never do. WTF, self? Do other people have this problem? Maybe it's because of the financial investment. If men wore bras, they'd be three for five dollars. But they wouldn't come in pretty colors.

Neil deGrasse Tyson's Nova episode about Pluto's loss of status is good entertainment. He reports that he got a lot of hate mail "from pissed-off third-graders." And he gets up to hijinks in ye olde stadium across the river.
I can't rewatch right now, though, because I ought to be in bed. Bye. |

It'll be a year this week that I first had my Vistibular Neuronitus attack. I still have it, although it's not like it was in the early days. The problem is that back when it first happened, it resulted in me having a full-on anxiety attack while driving, complete with trip to the ER.
So I've been thinking about it a lot, trying to tell myself that I've come a long way in a year. But apparently this starts me thinking (while driving home) about how I am a bit dizzy today, and am I breathing right? Maybe I'm getting rid of too much carbon dioxide. And what if I have another panic attack like...right now? I mean, I shouldn't and all, but what if I do? Seriously, am I breathing right? ACK, MY FINGER TINGLED. I DON'T THINK I'M BREATHING RIGHT. OMG. *HAS HEART PALPITATIONS* *DOWNS XANAX* *GETS HOME SHAKING AND STRUNG OUT*
So, yeah. I swear I cannot stand my brain these days. I'm fine now - just a little jittery and tired (tired part is the xanax kicking in.) But I hate how this has wrecked my life. |

Couple of very general thoughts after watching the first two episodes of Legend of the Seeker:
1) It's better than I thought it was going to be. Yes, yes, there are some very bad CGI monsters in it (really really bad), but the show's not really tried to be campy so far. I'm glad for that since Robin Hood semi-attempted it, and I think kind of failed at it.
2) Not really hooked yet. I think I'll have to spread it out instead of marathonning it. Towards the end of the second episode I was ready for it to be over. Had enough LotS for one day. |

- If 30 Rock doesn't say something about NBC's utter fail during the Olympics (stopping airing the Closing to spam people with Jerry Seinfeld's new show?), I will be disappointed. You just know a Jack Donaghy came up with the scheduling.
- I finally watched SyFy's Alice last night. Overall I thought it was...okay. Don't feel I wasted my life watching it, but at the same time I don't think I need to watch it again.
- Have I mentioned I'm on a 24 hiatus? I just couldn't take nothing happening week after week anymore. I might watch it once a month or something, marathonning several in a row.
- Also, both How I Met Your Mother and Chuck are off my lists now. So basically I cleared my entire Monday night TV schedule. Go me? :D
- I might have to try Legend of the Seeker since
goldy_dollar won't stop talking about it. Is it any good?

Realistically, I know there are LOTS of different reasons why scenes get deleted from movies. That said...
OMG WHY WOULD YOU DELETE THESE SCENES?!?!?! (hint: do not comment with a genuine answer. If you do, you've missed the point ;D)

It's not even the shirtlessness! (no, really). PLAYING WITH THE NOODLES IN BED. OH, GALE. THAT WAS ALL YOU, BB.

Also? Kind of loved it when he opened the taxi door again and did what he did, omg. heeeeee. And his reaction after, watching the taxi drive off. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
I am such a girl.

"I don't know how this is possible. There's nothing there. How is it possible? How are you even walking around?"
So, Mom has no knee. All she has are bones rubbing against each other - nothing else at all. No ligaments, cartilage or tendons. This explains a lot. She has to lose four stone (56 pounds) before they'll put her on the list for a replacement knee operation, which, you know - hard to do when you CAN'T EXERCISE. She has been losing weight with Slimming World, but as the only thing she can do to lose weight is follow an eating plan and she's been doing it for so long, it's slow going. They're going to see about cortisone injections in the meantime, but no one has any idea if they'll actually do anything. The doctor really was completely flabbergasted when he saw her x-rays.
As you might imagine, she's in incredible pain all the time, and walks with a cane already. The pain killers she's on for her knee keep her severely constipated.
